Day 33: Friday 7th August, Cusco to Ollantaytambo, Peru

Most gorgeous little town and entrance to Machu Picchu

This morning we woke up and had to quickly run around and get last minute things before our Machu Picchu trip, which we left for at 1pm.
So basically we just went to the supermarket got some more agua (water) and snacks. The most amazing apricots. Then we went and brought me a camel back (water bladder, which leaks btw), then we went back to the hotel in time for our bus.
We stopped at a couple of amazing view points on our way to Ollantaytambo. Then when got to Ollantaytambo, we checked into our hotel and went for a walk.
The walk up the hill was a little tiring but very worth it. The view was amazing and the Inca ruins were really cool.
After our walk we went to a really really nice restaurant for dinner, feed before our 4 day hike. Then we went to bed before our early morning pick up.

Day 32: Thursday 6th August, Cusco, Peru

Day of White Water Rafting

Day 2 - Cusco. Such a cool place so much to see, so little time. Today were had booked to go white water rafting.
We got picked up around 8.30am. The people who joined us rafting were Desmond, Reisha, Luisa, Jonas, Ben, Jack and Nim. There were a few very hungover people after last, Ben was very fun to laugh at though. We spent the first half of the ride recollecting the funny parts of last night, the rest was for sleeping and talking to the new English couple we just met.
The ride to the river was about an hour an a half. Then we had to get all kitted up and have our safety briefing. Then they split our 2 vans into 3 rafts and got them into the water.
The whole trip down the river was really awesome and a little tiring. Our boat got stuck once cause we didn't row fast enough. So we had to disembark the boat to get it back into the main river, before we were allowed back in.
After we made it to the end of the river, we were provided with lunch. It was pretty nice rice, roast chicken and salad by the water. Once we finished lunch it was just a hour and a half drive back again to the hotel.
When we got we were all shattered so we chilled out at the hotel and had a nap, Until Jack decided he would join us and have a nap too/fill us in on his long distance love life. It's always when I'm eager to sleep. But it ok you grow to love Jack needs. ;-P.
At around 7pm, Stephen, Clare, Jack, Ben, Luisa, Jonas, Callum and Me, went and met up with the first group for dinner. Everyone wanted to try guinea pig (Peruvian delicacy), but everywhere we went past was very expensive. We decided just to pick one and go in. Most people decided it was too expensive so ended up getting something else. Callum had a really yummy Carbonara and I have grilled breast chicken, mash and leak bechamel sauce. All the food was sooo yummy and the man gave us a free round of Pisco Sours.
After dinner we said goodbye to everyone for the last time, it was sad. Except Johannes as he decided we were going out for a drink. So Jack, Jo, Callum, Clare and Me went and had a few at Paddys, and a bit of a debrief on the last few weeks. About midnight I called it, I was tired and needed to go to bed.
